Giorano Bruni:"To make this deck I let myself be directly inspired by the god of wine, known as Dyionisos by the ancient Greeks and Bacchus, or Libero, by the Latins. It was an exciting experience that led me to think of the 78 Arcana with innovative images and meanings.
The 22 Triumphs tell the birth of the god of wine, his earthly adventures and the events that led him to spread viticulture and the mystery rites connected with the religious use of wine. For the screenplay, I based myself on some classical Greek and Latin texts: Euripides' Bacchantes, Grandfather's Dionysiacs of Panopoli, Ovid's Metamorphoses, as well as numerous studies on the Mysteries of Dionysus.
The 16 Court figures represent the most important producing nations today. The four kings are Italy, France, the United States and Australia. The four Queens are Germany, Spain, Argentina, Japan. The four Knights are Greece, Chile, Hungary, South Africa. The four infantrymen are Austria, Mexico, Russia and Brazil. The 40 Numerical Cards refer to agricultural, commercial and convivial activities related to wine. The Tarot of Bacchus, packaged in an elegant box, are accompanied by a booklet in Italian and English."
